Teddy Bears and Scarves

Last month, Trinity parents Azucena Castillo and Lisa Palafox made scarves for the orphans who will be attending Colegio San Benito for the first time this month. They will need our prayers as they begin school--although the children are motivated, some are as much as two years behind in school, and will need lots of TLC and support as they adjust to their new school environment. Azucena and Lisa also made tiny scarves--embroidered with each child's name and "tu familia en AR" or "your family in Arkansas" to remind them that they, too, had family--the sisters and all of our generous partners. In the photos, Sisters Therese Moreno and Rosalie Ruesewald and oblates Kathy Jarvis and Maryanne Meyerriecks are packing the boxes for Guatemala. We also sent 20 "Prayer Partner" cards to our scholarship students--eight who live in the orphanage and twelve who live with family members. Seventeen sisters and three laypeople signed up to be prayer partners. To "meet" some of our scholarship students, see our powerpoint slides here!
